Front sump or rear sump?
Series 60 oil pans come in two versions, with the sump at the front or at the back, and they are not the same part. Look at where the deep part of the old pan is: if it is at the front of the engine, this is the pan. If it is at the back, you need the AK-23522283 rear sump oil pan, an aluminum pan that can also replace the original fiberglass pan.
If the number on the old pan or on the parts list isn’t 23522282, call us with that number and the engine serial number, and we’ll confirm the right pan before you order.
When to replace the oil pan
The usual reasons are a cracked or dented pan, oil seeping along the pan rail, or a drain plug thread that no longer holds. Since this pan comes with a new gasket and bolts, everything is replaced in one job, and the truck is less likely to come back with a leak.
